Zakynthos Airport

Zakynthos Airport is close to the island capital, but the beach and the viewpoint at Navagio are not on a simple transfer route. This page shows the options for the first hours.

Zakynthos Airport in short

Zakynthos Airport (ZTH) lies close to Zakynthos Town, roughly 4 to 6 km depending on where you measure. That makes the first leg easy: a bus, a taxi, a pre-booked transfer or a hire car all get you to town quickly. The longer part of the trip comes after, when you head for a harbour and a boat.

Navagio is reached from the sea. Boat trips leave from Porto Vromi, Agios Nikolaos and Zakynthos Town, and the Zakynthos boat tours page explains what they do in the bay. Landing on the beach and swimming there are not allowed.

From the airport on to the harbours

Plan the trip in two steps: reach your base first, then the boat.

Agios Nikolaos

This is the northern harbour. A 2.5-hour Shipwreck and Blue Caves cruise is listed daily from €25 per person in 2026. The 2.5 hours is the whole trip, not the crossing time.

Porto Vromi

The meeting point is called Anafonitria Porto Vromi. Boat rental for the Shipwreck and local caves is listed from €100 per group without a skipper and from €140 per group with a skipper in 2026. Confirm the exact berth before the trip.

Zakynthos Town

Longer cruises start from the town harbour. A cruise to Navagio is listed at 6 hours, and a trip around the island at 8 hours.

Last stretch by road

Do not plan on a public bus from the airport to a harbour or to the viewpoint. Ask your accommodation or the boat operator how to reach the meeting point.

Late arrivals and flight times

Do not plan around a fixed night break.

Do not count on a set pause in flights around midnight. Flight times change by season and by airline, so confirm your own flight and the opening hours of the airport services shortly before you travel. If you land late, arrange the transfer with your accommodation in advance, because a bus may not run at that hour.

Airport opening hours can change during the season, so use your airline's information on the day of travel.

Zakynthos Airport: frequently asked questions

How far is Zakynthos Airport from the town?

About 4 to 6 km, depending on where you measure. A taxi, a transfer or a hire car covers the distance quickly.

Is there a bus from Zakynthos Airport to Zakynthos Town?

A direct bus runs between the airport and the town, with a stop in front of the terminal in the arrivals area. Service is seasonal, so check the current timetable before you go and have a taxi as a fallback.

Can I get from the airport to Navagio by public transport?

Do not plan on it. Navagio is reached by boat from a harbour, and the viewpoint above the bay is a separate matter. Reach your base first, then arrange the boat or the road trip.

Should I hire a car at the airport?

A car helps if you want to reach Porto Vromi and other beaches on your own. The airport lists car hire on its website. Check price, minimum age, deposit and insurance with the rental company before you book.

Are there flights at night?

Do not rely on a night break. Flight times change by season, so check your own flight and arrange a late transfer in advance.

Is this the official Zakynthos Airport or Navagio website?

No. This is an independent travel guide. It is not the official site of the airport, Navagio, the Municipality of Zakynthos, the Greek Ministry of Culture or Visit Greece, and it is not connected to any tour operator, boat company or hotel.
