Zakynthos weather at a glance
Zakynthos weather follows a clear pattern. July and August are the warmest months, with average highs above 30°C and almost no rain. Autumn brings much more rain, and December is the wettest month of the year. Spring warms up slowly: April averages 18.9°C by day, May 23.4°C.
For a trip built around the sea, air temperature is only half the picture. Boat trips along the coast depend on wind and swell on the day, and the skipper makes that call. If you plan a boat day, look at the Zakynthos boat tours page for how the trips work and what they do at Navagio.

Highs and lows are the mean daily maximum and minimum of each month, not records. Rainfall is the average monthly total. For most visitors who want warm, dry days, June to September fits best. May is a milder choice with little rain. The table shows air temperatures, so do not read the values as water temperatures.

What to expect by season
A plain reading of the table.
Winter, December to March
Highs of 14.4°C to 16.1°C, lows of 8.1°C to 9.6°C and the most rain of the year. Pack for wet, cool days.
Spring, April and May
Highs rise from 18.9°C to 23.4°C, and rainfall falls from 51 mm to 17 mm. Mornings and evenings stay cool.
Summer, June to August
Highs of 27.8°C to 30.7°C, lows around 18°C to 21°C and almost no rain. Sun protection matters more than a rain jacket.
Autumn, September to November
September is still warm at 27.6°C. Rain returns in October and stays heavy in November, while highs fall from 23.0°C to 19.0°C.
Zakynthos weather in October
The step from September to October is the biggest change in the table.
September averages 25 mm of rain. October averages 147 mm, almost six times as much, and November (159 mm) and December (170 mm) are wetter still. Highs in October still reach 23.0°C on average, so it stays mild. These are monthly means, not a promise of rain on any given day, and they do not say how many boat trips will run.
Plan October as a month of changeable weather. Keep some flexibility in your schedule, and check the forecast for the days you want to be on the water.
Weather and boat trips to Navagio
What decides whether a trip runs.
Wind and swell
The skipper decides on the day whether the sea allows the trip. A departure is never guaranteed. Use a local wind and sea forecast, not the air temperature, and check it the evening before and again in the morning.
Rules for the bay
Boats may enter the marked sea zone off Navagio in the north and leave in the south, with a stay of up to 20 minutes. Landing on the beach and swimming in the bay are not allowed. In 2026 the viewing hours were 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. from 15 June to 15 September, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. from 16 September to the end of the season.
Is Navagio open? →From November
From November 2026 the harbour authority bans ordinary boat traffic, approach, anchoring and swimming inside the bay until a new joint ministerial decision. Winter weather is therefore not the only reason a Navagio boat view is off the table in the cold months.
Other stops on the coast
Stops at the Blue Caves or at other beaches depend on route and conditions. Swimming stops belong outside the closed water off Navagio.
