How Zakynthos boat tours to Navagio work

A Navagio boat tour passes the bay from the water. The boat enters the marked sea zone from the north, leaves to the south and stays up to 20 minutes. You do not land on the beach, and swimming in the bay is banned. Most tours add the Blue Caves on the north coast, where swimming outside the Navagio waters is possible on some routes.

The trips differ mainly by departure port and total length. Durations such as 2.5 hours or 6 hours cover the whole tour, not the ride to the bay. Prices below are those listed in 2026 and they change, so check the date you want before you plan around a price.

For most visitors, the Shipwreck and Blue Caves cruise from Agios Nikolaos or Skinari is a good match: short, cheap per person and focused on the two sights. Choose the town cruises if you start near Zakynthos Town and want a long day on the water, and rental boats if you are a group that wants its own pace. The Skinari trip takes 2 to 2.5 hours, so allow the longer one.

Navagio beach boat tour: what the boat does in the bay

The rules are the same for every operator.

Entry from the north, exit to the south

Boats follow a one-way path through the marked zone, with a line of buoys, and may stay up to 20 minutes. Not more than 15 boats are in the zone at once. Until 15:30, 10 of them are tourist passenger boats and 5 are other vessels. After 15:30 there is no split.

No landing, no swimming

No boat may come within 50 m of the shoreline or anchor there. Swimming is banned inside the bay. A tour that promises a swim at the shipwreck cannot offer it. Swimming stops belong at other places on the route.

Access rules →

Season hours

From 15 June to 15 September 2026, the zone is open to boats from 8:00 to 21:00. From 16 September to 31 October the hours are 8:00 to 19:00. The skipper decides about wind and sea state, so a departure is never certain. Book a flexible date if you can.

Winter closure

From 1 November 2026, until a new joint ministerial decision, the port authority bans ordinary boat traffic in the bay. Exceptions apply only to emergencies and some official checks. Do not plan a Navagio boat tour for the off-season.

Blue Caves and turtle trips

The other half of most boat days.

The Blue Caves are sea caves on the north coast, close to the Navagio route. A one-hour swim trip from Agios Nikolaos costs €15 per person, and a 40-minute Blue Caves ride from Skinari costs €20. One Skinari operator advertises departures from 9:00 to 18:00 about every 15 minutes. Check the season and the day's boats before you go. Read more on the Blue Caves page.

Turtle trips run on the south coast, away from Navagio. One operator lists a "Turtle Island and Keri Caves" trip from €35 per person, 3 hours. The turtles are wild, so no tour can promise a sighting. Keep to the distance rules in the turtle guide and avoid any boat that chases animals.

What to check before you book

Prices differ less than the wording does.

What the tour does at Navagio

Ask or read whether it passes the bay from the sea zone. Treat any promise of a landing or a swim in the bay as a warning sign.

Group price or price per person

Rental boats are priced per group. Cruises are priced per person. Do not compare the two directly, and check what the group price covers, such as fuel and rental time.

Port and meeting point

The rental offer names the meeting point as Anafonitria Porto Vromi. Confirm the exact pier before you travel. Getting to Navagio lists the ports.

Children and extras

Child prices, age limits and extra fees are not the same everywhere. Read the offer for your date.
